I don’t know about you, but I love scarves and have a huge collection of many variations. Big ones, small, long and short ones, with or without prints. It’s totally chaotic. I’m a scarf fanatic, and I’m sure there are more of us out there. That’s why I am happy to present you the Berlin based label aschön.
aschön is a label of the designer duo Claus Arnold and Mila Micic. They want to create scarves that give their wearer a very calm and protected feeling. Both set a focus on the haptics and quality of their cotton and silk fabrics. All of the prints are hand drawn. Mila loves to create optical illusions within her patterns and she believes that finding new things in the prints is extremely exciting. All aschön scarves are offered in limited editions.
Before they founded the label in early 2009, Mila first studied communication design at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee and graduated in 2003. Then she worked as an apparel graphic designer for brands like Levi’s Europe, Mustang and as a freelancer. With the experience of her studies and her work in the industry, she founded the label aschön with Claus Arnold, who had studied fine arts in Stuttgart.
Among my favorites are the scarves of the special edition with Berlin based urban artist Pabo. For this collaboration, he painted portraits that were transferred on fabric. All scarves of the Pabo special edition are available at “Galerie Imaginaire” of Le Bon Marché until December 2011.
