When I last saw Michael some years ago, he flipped his famous self-made burgers on a grill in a backyard in Cleveland. We were design students in our overseas semester, and none of us knew where we were going after all of this. Later, I heard that Michael had changed to Germany’s best school for film and graduated with a diploma in tv/film design. So just a couple of weeks ago, when I heard Michael was in town, I met him, ready to find out all about his life in the film industry. Instead, we talked about shoes. Felt boots, to be precise.
It turned out that Michael had worked in a ski resort in Laax (Switzerland), when an idea changed his life. After a lot of work and countless designs, emails and phone calls, the LomLoms were born: High-quality felt boots, reduced to the bare minimum. No buttons, laces, stitching – nothing but the boot body itself.
